If Greg Heffley was Indian

Greg or Gregory Heffley is the main character of the famous Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney. I am a huge fan and have read all the books of the series. But I was just wondering what if Greg was Indian?

Let me start with a brief character sketch of Greg. Greg is selfish, lazy, petty, arrogant, egotistical, usually backstabbing, and sometimes even cruel and dishonest, who apparently lacks talent. He hardly has any skills aside from video games, and possibly singing. However, despite all this, Greg still has had his kind and caring moments, it's just that, it's not that often. He hates taking blame for anything, and would much rather take all the credit.

Firstly, if Greg was Indian, he wouldn’t be Greg. He would have a funnier name like Gadha Prasad, Genda Lal, Golu kumar, Gautama Wimpy (not Gambhir). He wouldn’t have a huge bungalow with a garage and all that cool stuff. He would live in a tiny-miny flat.  His elder brother Rodrick, who has his room in a garage, would not have one.

Greg hates Christmas, because you have to be at your best behaviour, or else Santa’s Scout will report your mischief to Santa. Most people in India are Hindus, so Greg could escape his “cursed Christmas”. India is a diverse country, so if he chooses Christianity, then his Christmas follows him. He has an advantage of choices in India, Holi, Diwali, Eid, Palkhi, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc. Greg could celebrate Holi, but  knowing the person he is, he wouldn’t like it. He is a lazy person and not very fun-loving, so Holi might become his new Christmas.

Greg wouldn’t get his beloved Pot Roast, because beef is ban in India. He would also eat our roti subji, dal chaval, pav bhaji, poha, upma, etc.

And lastly, Greg would dress up in kurta- pajamas. It would be kind of awkward to see him that way.

Everyone loves Greg, so I guess he is better the way he is. So Greg, you are awesome!
