Maa Tujhe Salam

Its mother’s day tomorrow, so I thought of writing a special article for all mothers. Mothers always remind us of warmth, love, scolding, advice. There are many types of mothers. Each one has a unique personality. But in India, mothers are broadly classified into few categories. So mothers, this one is for you. The basic categories of mothers are:

1) The urgh maa- She is the one who continuously keeps asking why your skirt is so short, or why your top has such a deep neck, or why you haven’t got your underarms waxed. She irritates you and you hate it when you have to dress her way. You feel very "behenji types" (old-fashioned) and your friends laugh at your behenji clothing.

2) The chillax maa*- She is the cool maa. She has no issues if your skirt is short; in fact she encourages you to wear shorter stuff. She doesn’t mind if your arms aren’t waxed or if you haven’t put on lipstick or if your hair isn’t proper. You love her for her cool-self. You thank God for not giving you a urgh maa. You are one who teases the kids of the urgh maa.

3) The sanskari** maa – She expects you to make tea, serve snacks and touch the feet of guest and adults. She expects you to sit at home. She expects you to stay away from boys, wear so-called appropriate clothes (traditional) and help in household work. Your attitude towards her depends on your type. If you are an obedient child, you will love her and follow her. But if you are the rebel kind, you will curse her and behind her back do stuff she doesn't like.

4) The chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe*** maa – She has her signature dance moves and dialogues. She keeps singing or dancing while doing household chores. She does all sort of awkward stuff with the scrappy sibling. She doesn’t care about what we say, instead keeps going on with her kaaryakram****. She keeps you entertained and gives you the daily dose of laughter.

5) The kuch na kaho***** maa- She is the silent and not-saying anything maa. There are really very less mothers in this category. I haven't seen any yet. I have just read about them. Mothers who are obedient, shy, who speak less are under this category.

How much ever different mothers might be, they possess one quality which is common for all, that is caring. They care for their children more than for themselves. They love us. So, maa tujhe salam******!
