Agni Pareeksha

Hello again! So this will be my third poem for the month. This poem basically speaks about the condition of a student when he sits for an exam. Agni pareeksha here refers to trial by fire. Pareeksha means exams. Jhaap refers to jhaapad, which means slap.

We enter the battlefield,
Our class room
With our swords in hand,
Ready to face all that stands in our way.
They might think of it as a pareeksha,
But it is no less than a agni pareeksha
.
The answer sheet is our shield,
Which will decide what results we yield.
The pen is our sword,
Which determines our score.
The question paper is our enemy,
Which doesn’t even have a bit of sympathy.
Our intelligence is tested, by these weapons,
Which look deceptively simple.
We are the warriors,
Who see the bloodshed,
In this agni pareeksha.

We’d die if we fail,
But the exam is written in vain.
It is a matter of life or death.
Write to get marks,
Otherwise get jhaps.
Write to satisfy the world,
Fight the battle of your lives!
Which isn’t merely a pareeksha,
It is a agni pareeksha.
